Many of us love the old portastudio cassette recorder sound because many of us started this gig on cheap tape. The pres are simple and yet have a smooth rolling off that makes for a nice smooth rendition. This pre surprised me at how useful it is. Giving a lovely glow it can be used to give more body and definition. Very nice , classy sound for a cheap preamp.
These Maccy Onnyyx preamps have been described as being as good as some standalone boutique mic amps. The NVE PRE 73 has been updated! Inspired by the successful G610 Library, new driven programs have been added, which offer different degrees of saturation while the old programs have been sampled in a different way usign moderate settings. Those new programs will give you full, warm, and thick NVE sound! The new programs are available as 192kHz, 96kHz ,88.2kHz, 48kHz and 44.1 versions, so nebula won’t have to convert them.
