Sho, the fourth release in the Virtuoso Japanese Series, is now available as a software instrument in Kontakt format. The sho is free reed musical instrument and one of the three primary woodwind instruments used in gagaku court orchestra music. Consisting of 17 slender bamboo pipes, it is sometimes said to resemble a resting phoenix because of its shape. In antiquity, the sho’s fluid tonal character was associated with light shining down from the heavens.

The Panoramic Wave Generator is an experimental sound generating sample library for the Kontakt sampler from Native Instruments.Do you remember the early days of sampling? Or making long, low speed tape loops? That was the inspiration for the Panoramic Wave Generator. I still have an old Akai S-612 and it is one of those things that I just never get tired of. You can take a sound and stretch it across the entire keyboard. Depending on your sound it can sound like a howling demon in the low registers or a shrieking bird of prey on the high notes. Of course the old Akai has something like 2 seconds of sampling time.

With 30 alternate samples per key, this is one of our very detailed scripted basses. And the best part is of course the sound of this “Leo’s” legend. The Jazz Bass differs from the Precision Bass mainly in the electrical equipment, a narrower neck and the more asymmetrical shape of the body. In our recording session We used our vintage RFT 4053 Tube Mic-Pre/DI from the good old 60s. This VINTAGE BASS is an all-purpose weapon, so it is also very suitable for modern music styles. So we recorded this “gem of a bass” and cleverly scripted it into a perfect bass library. The real strength of this bass guitar lies in its playability. No machine-gun effect thanks to Multi-Round-Robin. The Analog taste gives the bass character and the flavor it needs for a realistic performance of a bass guitar. Warm Bassy Plucks

The Gimbri is a three-stringed skin-covered bass that originated in Morocco. It is actually a lute that produces rich deep but also somewhat harsh and earthy tones through its wooden body and goat gut strings. Often compared to a bass guitar, the gimbri brings deepness into the music with its low dynamic range. The main focus was to capture different articulations of the Gimbri while keeping its organic feeling and warm sound. Traditionally played with the fingers, we recorded it muted, with a plec and through an amp to ensure a wide variety of tones. It comes with five presets, while the possibility of custom settings is kept open.
