Combining the know-how of analog reproduction and elaborate modeling technology. The ARP ODYSSEY synthesizer, perfectly reproduced in software. Since the birth of the ARP Odyssey in 1972, it has been a renowned analog synthesizer used on many artists’ records. However, for a number of years it was quite difficult to come by. In 2015, KORG welcomed ARP Instruments’ co-founder David Friend as an advisor and began production of the hardware once again.

ARP is an advanced Polyphonic Arp and Note Sequencer with Scale Remapping for powerful sequencing possibilities. Sequences can be re-mapped based on the played note so for example a sequence can be forced to fit to the major scale. The idea behind this is to break away from the typical note sequencer where every key simply transposes the sequence, the ability to remap each note results in a much more creative sequence. The Muter Section is a gate sequencer which decides which notes will play. ARP is also polyphonic and so can be used as a typical Gate Sequencer, or even more interesting as a polyphonic sequencer that syncopates. There is also the ability to offset the start note of each sequence so that when 2 notes are pressed together they automatically play syncopated. Finally there is OmniChorder which allows triggering up to another 2 notes when one note is pressed to create a chord, this becomes interesting when used with the Scale Remapper which can leave you with a selection of interesting one finger chords.

Infundibulum#1 is a multi-arp workstation, a gloriously messy playground of poly rhythmical possibilities with an open door policy for unexpected artifacts and happenstance. Like a room full of noise generators, plucked, struck or bowed things, exotic vintage synths and more. You control a space and time shifting chamber orchestra of the cloned avatars of Moebius, Roedelius and Plank. Infundibulum is not intended to authentically replicate any of the sounds included, some have been deeply multi sampled and others are deliberately stretched across a wider keyspan than is sensible. The samples all have very obvious loop points. The whole point of Infundibulum is to embrace and celebrate the artifacts that occur when sampling goes too far. Hold a chord, any chord and you will hear the different notes start to cycle back on themselves in disjointed but glorious ways that you will never hear from a gazillion gigabyte hypersampled piano, crumhorn or orchestral calabash.
